사랑하는 (사)한국현대디자인협회 KECD 회원 여러분 안녕하십니까, 제17대 회장으로 취임한 이민형입니다.
무엇보다 먼저 오랜 시간 협회의 방향을 세우고 오늘의 KECD를 이끌어 주신
역대 회장님들과 선배 교수님들께 깊은 존경과 감사의 인사를 드립니다.
1969년 창립 이래 KECD는 ‘실험정신’과 ‘국제 디자인 교류’를 핵심 가치로 삼아 한국 현대 시각디자인의 흐름을 선도해 왔습니다.
특히 선배 세대의 교수님들과 회원 여러분께서는 교육과 연구, 전시와 국제 교류 현장에서 협회의 정체성을 굳건히 다지며
KECD를 국내를 넘어 국제적으로 신뢰 받는 디자인 플랫폼으로 성장 시켜 주셨습니다.
저는 그 소중한 유산 위에서 협회의 다음을 고민하는 역할을 맡게 되었습니다. 이제 우리는 Next KECD, 즉 협회의 다음 단계를
본격적으로 설계해야 할 시점에 서 있습니다. 2026년 KECD는 ‘다음 세대·국제·연결’을 키워드로 한 실천적 행보를 시작합니다.
4월에는 대전에서 ICo-D ‘국제디자인의 날’ 행사를 개최하여 디자인의 사회적 가치와 동시대적 역할을
국내외와 공유할 예정입니다. 이는 선배 회장님들과 교수님들께서 꾸준히 이어오신 국제 교류의 흐름을 확장하는 자리이기도 합니다.
7월에는 K-Wave & Design 컨퍼런스와 국제 포스터 디자인전을 통해 한국 디자인과 문화의 확장 가능성을 국제 무대에 제시하고자 합니다.
또한 12월 말에는 대만에서 학술 교류 및 국제 포스터 전시를 진행하며 아시아 디자인 네트워크를 더욱 공고히 할 계획입니다.
이러한 사업들은 단순한 행사가 아니라 선배 세대가 만들어 온 협회의 가치와 경험을 다음 세대와 세계로 연결하기 위한 과정입니다.
저는 협회가 축적해 온 57년의 역사 위에서 교육·연구·실천이 유기적으로 연결되는 플랫폼으로서
한국 디자인의 새로운 방향성과 국제적 경쟁력을 만들어 가는 데 최선을 다하겠습니다.
전통을 잇고, 변화를 실천하며, 다음을 준비하는 협회! Next KECD, 그 여정을 회원 여러분과 함께 만들어 가겠습니다.

제17대 회장 이민형
Dear members of the KECD, I am Lee Min-hyung, the 17th president.
First of all, I would like to express my deep respect and gratitude to previous presidents and
senior professors who have set the direction of the association for a long time and led today's KECD.
Since its foundation in 1969, KECD has led the flow of modern Korean visual design with the "spirit of experimentation"
and "international design exchange" as its core values.
In particular, professors and members of the senior generation have strengthened the association's identity in education,
research, exhibition and international exchange, and have grown KECD into an internationally trusted
design platform beyond Korea.
Based on that precious legacy, I have taken on the role of contemplating the association's next steps.
Now we are at the point where we need to design the next KECD, or the next stage of the association. In 2026,
KECD will begin to take practical steps with the keyword 'next generation, international, and connection'.
In April, we will hold an ICo-D 'International Design Day' event in Daejeon to share the social value and
contemporary role of design with domestic and foreign countries.
It is also a place to expand the flow of international exchanges that senior presidents and professors have continued.
In July, we would like to present the possibility of expanding Korean design and culture to the international stage through
the K-Wave & Design conference and the international poster design exhibition.
In addition, we plan to further solidify our Asian design network by holding academic exchanges and
international poster exhibitions in Taiwan at the end of December.
These projects are not just events, but processes to connect the values and experiences of associations created
by senior generations to the next generation and the world.
I will do my best to create a new direction and international competitiveness of Korean design as a platform where
education, research, and practice are organically connected over the 57-year history of the association.
Association to Continue Traditions, Practice Change, and Prepare for Next! Next KECD, I will make the journey with you.
